Spotlight on Decaf Colombia Sugar Cane
We are really excited about our Colombia decaf. On cupping it was juicy, bold and full bodied. Like our last few decafs it is a sugercane decaf where the chemicals that are used to pull out the caffine are derived from sugercane, a process done in Colombia allowing the country to better hold onto the value of there coffee.
El Yalcón coffee is a unique specialty coffee from Colombia, specifically cultivated by small-scale growers in La Plata. The name Yalcón is derived from the indigenous people that historically inhabited the area before the Spanish conquest.
The coffee is produced collectively by 36 small to medium-sized farms, each ranging from 1 to 5 hectares, situated at altitudes above 1,500 meters above sea level. The farms primarily use traditional coffee varieties, notably Caturra and Typica.
In order to guarantee a consistent quality and cup profile, every single lot delivered – no matter its size – is physically analyzed and cupped. Only the best lots that fit the El Yalcón profile are selected.
A lovely clean tasting, sweet, well rounded coffee.
