Introducing Sweet 2 Brazil Coffee!
May 11, 2021
We're pleased to introduce Sweet 2, our latest Brazil coffee from the fertile Minas Gerais region, a large inland state in the southeast and the country's largest coffee-producing region.
Sweet 2 is made from the yellow catuai varietal and is a delicious addition to the Jericho Coffee Traders' range. Its sugar cane molasses, milk chocolate and almond notes are perfect for a chocolatey espresso, stovetop, or for a more robust-tasting cafetière.
Farm Profile
Sweet 2 is sourced from the excellent Kamba Coffee. Bruna, the General Manager of Kamba Coffee, has a close relationship with the coffee farmer, Paulo Scanavachi and his daughter, Ana. In fact, Ana and Bruna are high school friends.
Paulo and Ana, an agricultural engineer, have a long history of coffee farming and live in Mogiana in the city of Espirito Santo do Pinhal. They manage two farms: one in Sao Paulo and the other in Minas Gerais where Sweet 2 is grown (interesting fact: Minas Gerais translates as "General Mines" and was named after Brazil's gold rush in the 18th century.)
The Sweet 2 cherries are grown at an altitude of about 900-1,100 metres and are naturally or dry-processed - dried in the warmth of the Brazil sun without removing the skin or the mucilage, the sticky, sugary substance that surrounds the coffee bean.
Enjoy!
